Inspiring
Transformation
Through Grantmaking

We seek grantees committed to three core values. Hope and Transformation to advance socio-economic mobility, Unification, Cooperation, and Healing to build connections across diverse communities, and Innovation and Growth to foster sustainable, scalable impact. These values reflect our mission to uplift communities and drive equitable opportunities.

More Than a Funding Partner

Our approach to grantmaking is informed by the expertise of our staff, who all have career backgrounds in the nonprofit sector. They bring a rich perspective of having actually done the work in the focus areas we fund, along with program and funding relationships that are leveraged for the benefit of our grantee partners.

With high-engagement grantmaking, we go beyond traditional funding by collaborating closely with our partners, fostering deep relationships, and addressing their immediate needs and/or long-term goals. Our commitment to high engagement means we are present, accountable, and responsive, working with grantee partners to amplify their impact and build sustainable progress in the communities they serve and touch.

Application Process

Invitation Only

Unsolicited proposals and inquiries are not accepted or acknowledged. All proposals are by invitation only.  Organizations invited to apply are chosen through recommendations from the Foundation’s Board of Directors and professional staff.

While there is never a guarantee of future funding, grantee engagement with the Julian Grace Foundation will be limited to 5 years.

Applying with Foundant

We use ‘Foundant Grants Management System’ for all applications and forms. If you are invited to apply, you will be contacted directly by a Julian Grace Foundation staff member with further instructions.

Written Proposal & Follow-up

In general, all invited applicants will complete a written proposal and have the opportunity for a follow-up conversation or site visit with staff and members of the Board of Directors. Grant proposals are due in April and September, with a decision made within 2-3 months following application.
