Response Following Tragic Events in Highland Park

Dear JGF Community:

As you all know the Julian Grace Foundation is located in Highland Park, IL. After yesterday’s tragic events we wanted to let you all know everyone close to the foundation is safe and we ask for some patience in responding to inquiries as the family in particular takes some space to heal. We are mourning the loss of life and remain committed to doing our work to address root causes of violence in myriad ways across multiple geographies.

We also know that many of you deal with trauma in your work on a regular basis. As we’ve shared in the past, please know if you need to care for your community members you can always get an extension on JGF deadlines. We strive to put community first in our decisions.

If you are working in Highland Park or simply want to support direct victims there are a number of resources that have been gathered to support victims’ families and upcoming events. Please feel free to share with others and/or add to it.

Finally, we also want to offer a resource to obtain and connect to mental health support, if needed. If you are experiencing anxiety or depression, call 1-800-273-TALK (8255) to reach a 24-hour crisis center, or text MHA to 741741 at the Crisis Text Line. You can also visit MHAscreening.org to get screened and access tools and resources.

If you have additional resources or suggestions for how we can support you and your community, please let us know.

In partnership,

All of us at JGF
